Throw away those falsies and say goodbye to tattooed eyebrows, now is the time to go au natural if you want long, beautiful lashes and thick, defined brows that could rival Ms Delevingne’s.
Castor oil is believed to make your eyelashes longer and more voluminous, and can encourage eyebrow hair to grow due to its nourishing fatty acids. According to Good Health Academy, it also prevents eyelashes from breaking by hydrating and strengthening them at the root.
Castor oil is packed with useful antioxidants such as Vitamin E, which is known to repair damaged hair follicles.
How to apply: Dip a clean eyelash wand in castor oil then gently apply to your lashes and brows. Apply at night a few hours before bed, and remove the oil in the morning. Repeat daily for best results.
If you can’t afford to splurge on additional beauty products, you might find you’ve already got a natural remedy in your cupboards at home. Petroleum Jelly, more commonly known as Vaseline, is said to condition and moisturise eyelashes, helping them to grow. It’s advised to leave the product on overnight to give your lashes an intensive treatment and also helps the skin around your eyelids stay soft and smooth.
What’s more, applying Vaseline to your eyebrows is believed to work wonders. According to Marie Claire, the jelly locks in moisture, making your brow hairs stronger which stimulates growth.
How to apply: Using a new mascara wand, gently apply the petroleum jelly to your eyelashes and/or eyebrows and leave on overnight. Wash it off first thing in the morning. Repeat the application three times a week.
Lash Extension Mascara
It’s important to keep things natural when it comes to mascara. You don’t want to spend time looking after your lashes to have them ruined by mascara that’s full of harmful chemicals.
Try Tropic Skincare’s ‘Lash Extension Kit’ for an instant eyelash extension effect without the artificial ingredients. Like all their products it’s vegan, natural and cruelty free. Using a combination of gel and fibre wands it adds 5x more volume and more than doubles the length of your eyelashes in an instant.
How to apply: Apply the gel wand first to give your eyelashes volume then apply the fibre wand to build on the volume and add length. The more you apply the thicker and longer your eyelashes will look.
If you find that oils or petroleum jelly are too heavy, opt for Aloe Vera instead. It works in a similar way by rejuvenating the hair and lashes but absorbs at a quicker rate so they won’t feel sticky. Aloe Vera contains the compound aloenin which nourishes the hair to make it more resilient and less prone to breakages.
How to apply: Carefully dip a new mascara wand into the Aloe Vera, shaking off an excess before you coat the lashes and brows with it. Leave it on overnight, then rinse off in the morning during your usual skincare routine.
