Organising The Perfect Vintage Wedding
Organising a wedding takes a lot of time and dedication and it is only when you actually get into the midst of it that you truly realise how much of your time it takes up.
Most couples have a theme they try to stick to throughout their day, and one of the most popular recently has been the ‘vintage’ theme. This theme, although beautiful, can be very difficult to achieve well.
There are a number of aspects of your big day that can influence how the whole day pans out and when you stick to a theme it can limit your choices when organising the day. So, we have highlighted a number of things you can do to make sure your day is as vintage as you want it to be, without you needing to pay over the odds for it too.
Décor
Your décor is one of the things that needs to be consistent and is quite easy to achieve, especially if you know where to look. Choosing the right colours is a good start. Pale blue, soft pinks, subtle gold’s and off-whites are the perfect backdrop for the best vintage wedding.
If you have an eye for a bargain or just know where to look, you can pick up old furniture that you can upcycle or little nik naks that are already created to look very old fashioned.
Cake
The cake is one of the focal points of the day, but making a wedding cake look vintage can be tricky. So, if you’re not too fussed on the traditional cake, why not try something a little different? For example, you could try a tiered Victoria sponge or, for a more rustic look that really is unusual, you could do a cake made of blocks of cheese on a cheeseboard.
The decorations on the cake are another way to make your cake look vintage and can mean you can stick to your traditional preferences too.
Catering
Along with the cake, the food served during the day can fit in nicely with the whole them of the day and although you might not be the best person to decide which foods will suit, a wedding caterer will. If you hire a wedding caterer to come in and create different styles and tastes with rustic looking foods, they will. In fact, a number of them have menus already created which can look great for any occasion, so the hard work is already done for you.
Other
There are a number of other things that can be done to make your day seem traditional and vintage-y. Some of these include invitations, letter boxes, table decorations and bunting. As for the bridge and groom themselves, Custom Wedding Suits or dresses could be designed to make their look for the day match the theme.
It is a difficult effect/theme to get right, but when you do, it looks incredible.
