Tried, Tested, Approved: In defense of the onesie
I had to think for a while about whether or not to post the above pictures. This has truly been the year of the onesie and I’ve spent a great deal of time, in my head at least, damning celebrities and their wide embrace of the style. Let me clearly state, from the get go, I am not advocating the wearing of onesies in public. Rather, I am here to wax lyrical about the comfort of these bad boys while in your own home.
Let’s start from the beginning. My mother picked up the onesie, modeled above, a couple of months ago. I had left it at home and not thought too much about it. However, upon arriving back in the States yesterday, I say the striped onesie sitting on the couch in my bedroom and thought I’d throw it on for a laugh. As I walked down the stairs I felt like Ralphie from A Christmas Story. This was the equivalent of my pink bunny moment. Yet, with every step I took I noticed not only how comfortable and warm I was, but also how childlike I felt. This onesie had instantly taken me back 25 years. It’s Christmas morning and I’m running down the stairs to see what Santa has left under the tree. This was the uniform of my childhood sleeping hours. So, in good fun, I asked my mom to snap a few pics of me wearing the onesie. I thought to myself, “we may all mock this but I have a duty to share and spread the news on just how comfortable the right onesie can be.”
My particular onesie of choice, the one you see pictured above, is from . It’s a steal at $17.49 and it’s making me think I should go buy another should anything catastrophic happen to this beauty.
I would like to repeat that I am in no way, shape or form, encouraging people to wear onesies in public. I am, however, telling you to invest in one for your family movie day at Christmas or for the ultimate in relaxation after a hard day at work. The combination of physical comfort from the micro fleece and mental comfort found in taking you back to your childhood, is second to none.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m headed out to purchase one for every member of my family this Christmas. Expect a onesie family portrait in the future. Happy onesie hunting!
